The Standing Committee of the National People's Congress of the People's Republic of China recently passed the Personal Information Protection Law, which will come into effect on November 1, 2021. Join Alex May, a digital privacy specialist at Hill Dickinson, at the upcoming hybrid seminar to provide details on the new law, and draw comparisons with the European Union's existing General Data Protection Regulation.

    Alexander May is a digital privacy specialist and recognized corporate transactional adviser. He is the head of data privacy at Hill Dickinson and has two certifications from the International Association of Privacy Practitioners - a CIPP/E (GDPR) (Certified Information Privacy Professional) and CIPM (Certified Information Privacy Manager) (1 of 3 in Hong Kong). Alex has over two decades of legal experience in Asia covering a wide variety of industries advising on corporate and commercial matters including data privacy, mergers and acquisitions, cross-border transactions, venture capital, joint ventures, anti-corruption, licensing, franchising, service legal agreements (SLAs), manufacturing and hospitality related agreements. Alex has also been awarded the Lexology-Client Choice Hong Kong Corporate Lawyer for the years 2020 and 2021.
